"TROMSØ" is a production by the company MORRAOCONTO with choreographic and movement direction by Colectivo Glovo – Esther Latorre.

When a loved one leaves us, the emptiness they leave behind fills us with a silence that, sometimes, we are never able to make disappear. A silence that clings to the heart, forever dimming part of its light.

Tromsø is a reflection on loss through a lens of humor — a meditation on life, death, and everything that lies in between. It is a song of sorrow, but also of hope. An epic journey through the northern seas, navigating storms, fjords, and vast shoals of herring in search of answers, in a place where orcas, through their songs, tear through the wild silence of the northern lights.

“The day I was born, someone I can't remember gave my mother a small plant — thin trunk, long narrow leaves, nearly withered. What that person didn’t know was that my destiny would become inescapably tied to that damned battered dracaena, which grew silently in the corner of the living room. And that, almost thirty years later, it would push me adrift, completely lost, into the polar circle.”

This is the starting point, where He, looking back on his life, realizes how it was forever marked by the dracaena that, for twenty years, grew unnoticed by the window, beside the sofa. A birth gift that would become his first deep encounter with death, and also the first sorrow — of many — that, without really knowing how, he would carry forever in his heart.

Now, burdened with more sorrow and uncertainty than anyone could possibly bear, he decides to set off for Tromsø, to sail the icy waters of the Norwegian Sea, and search for a place to let go of all that grief — with the hope that, perhaps, at the edge of the world, he and the dracaena that accompanies him will find the answers they have been looking for.
