ORIGINAL IDEA

In August 2020, in the center of Allariz (Galicia), we discovered a fascinating photograph from 1925, captured by Manuel Riesco. The black-and-white image, part of the Allariz Municipal Archive, portrays twelve women with a defiant attitude and belle époque-style hairstyles. We wondered who they were, what had happened to them, and what hidden stories they carried.

This photograph led us on a journey to uncover forgotten memories—an exploration that inspired TABÚ. This contemporary dance piece brings to life five female characters from the 1920s in a carnival-like setting of rural Galicia. Through movement, each woman reveals her own taboo in a dynamic and accessible performance for all audiences.

TABÚ raises a fundamental question: Is appearance a possibility for the future?
